But thanks to improved optics, the 9100XXi ADF allows you to more readily recognize colors as compared to our other models. From the Manufacturer With improved optics, the 3M Speedglas Auto Darkening Filter 9100XXi allows you to more readily recognize colors as opposed to our other filters. Welders will see a view that is less green. Colors, shades, tone as well as light and dark contrasts will all stand out with more vivid detail. Many welders will find they have better control of the weld puddle with a view that appears lighter, brighter and more realistic. This may help you focus on your welding set-up, welding technique, precision grinding, and inspection of just completed welds. Auto Darkening Filter Reacts Quickly After Striking an Arc The Speedglas lens features user-selectable dark shades of shades 5, 8, 9 through 13, and a light shade of 3. With a viewing area of 2.8 inches high x 4.2 inches wide (72 mm x 107 mm), the 9100XXI provides one of the largest viewing areas available in the 9100 Series helmets, an expansive field of view that helps the welder to see the work in progress with minimal obstruction. Three arc detection sensors in the lens activate the auto-darkening filter when an arc is struck. The lens then switches from light to dark shade in approximately 0.1 milliseconds (1/10,000 of a second), giving the welder an instant transition from light to dark shade while maintaining an optimal view for torch placement and weld puddle control. When the weld is complete, the filter automatically returns to light shade 3 with a delay of approximately 40-250 milliseconds, allowing almost immediate inspection of the weld pool and preparation for the next weld. Exhaust vents direct worker’s exhaled air out of the helmet, helping to reduce heat, humidity and fogging of the welding filter. The auto darkening filter reduces the need to flip the welding helmet up and down between torch placements, which boosts productivity by reducing the stop-and-start time needed with passive lens welding helmets. This feature can also reduce neck stain from “helmet nodding,” while greatly increasing the accuracy of torch placement. This, in turn, can also reduce the need for grinding and rework, saving time, effort and money. The helmet’s battery life is approximately 2,000 hours. The two Cr2030 3V lithium batteries that power the Auto-Darkening filter are easily accessible and replaceable, extending the helmet life. Easy Upgrade The 9100XXi Auto Darkening Filter (ADF) is compatible with all welding helmets in the 3M Speedglas Welding Helmet Series 9100. This item does not offer exterior control functions.
